Tempo Traveller Hire Delhi to Gangotri
Going to Gangotri from Delhi is more than just ticking off a pilgrimage destination. It’s a journey through history, mythology and unmatchable Himalayan terrain. Gangotri at 3048 meters is one of the four sacred Dhams in Uttarakhand and the origin point of the River Ganga. Thousands of pilgrims visit the temple between April to November every year. But here’s a question: why do so many groups prefer to Rent a Tempo Traveller over any other option? The answer lies in group comfort, road convenience and cost sharing.
As per Uttarakhand Tourism data, 6.5 lakh people visited Gangotri in the 2024 season alone. With narrow hill roads, unpredictable weather and long travel hours, booking a private tempo traveller from Delhi gives you more control over the journey. It gives your group privacy, onboard amenities and a safe way to travel through the Garhwal mountains.
Delhi to Gangotri Road Trip: Routes, Distances & Best Stopovers
The distance from Delhi to Gangotri is about 501 kilometres and usually takes around 12 hours, depending on traffic and the weather. There are two main options to reach from Delhi.
Via Haridwar - The first route is the more popular one. It takes you through Haridwar, Rishikesh, Narendranagar, Tehri, Dharasu Bend and Uttarkashi before you reach Gangotri. That's because the road conditions are generally better and there are more places to stop for food and fuel along the way.
Delhi → Haridwar → Rishikesh → Narendranagar → Tehri → Dharasu Bend → Uttarkashi → Bhatwari → Gangnani → Harsil → Gangotri
Via Dehradun - The second route passes through Dehradun and Mussoorie, offering some of the most stunning elevation and tighter bends you'll find. After Uttarkashi, the roads do get narrower, especially around Gangnani and Harsil. If you can, it's best to avoid the monsoon months when the risk of landslides is much higher. You should definitely stop off at Haridwar for the Ganga Aarti, Tehri Lake for some sightseeing and Harsil for a quick nature break.
Delhi → Dehradun → Mussoorie → Chamba → Tehri → Dharasu Bend → Uttarkashi → Bhatwari → Gangnani → Harsil → Gangotri
